Saorise Ronan is set for “On Chesil Beach”, based on the book of the same name by Ian McEwan, says Variety.

The Number 9 Films production will be helmed by Dominic Cooke. Lensing begins in the Fall.

The story is set in Blighty in 1962 and sees a young and talented violinist (Florence) dream of a career on a concert stage and the perfect life she will create with an earnest young history student (Edward). It follows the precise depiction of two young lovers to the touching story of how their unexpressed misunderstandings and fears shape the rest of their lives.

This is the second time Ronan has starred in a film based on a McEwan book; she starred alongside Keira Knightley and James McAvoy in 2007’s “Atonement”.
