Sean Anders to helm Mean Moms with Jennifer Aniston circling

New Line has set Sean Anders to direct a “Mean Girls” sequel of sorts, with Jennifer Aniston circling the lead role.

“Mean Moms” is based on Rosalind Wiseman’s nonfiction book “Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads”. That book is the sequel to “Queen Bees and Wannabees”, which was the source material for 2004’s “Mean Girls”.

“Mean Moms” follows a happily married mother of two who moves from small-town America to the high–class suburbs and must suddenly confront the cutthroat world of competitive parenting.

Aniston’s name has been link to the project for a while. She worked with Anders on 2014’s “Horrible Bosses 2”.

Jill Messick, Jennifer Gibgot and Adam Shankman are producing “Mean Moms”. Anders penned the most recent draft of the script with John Morris.

Deadline brought the news.
