She’s a Maniac… chasing a Swamp Thing

“Flashdance” alum Jennifer Beals is dancing her way to DC.

DC Universe’s “Swamp Thing” series has tapped the actress to play the recurring guest role of Sheriff Lucilia Cable. Described as tough as nails and pragmatic, Cable’s fierce devotion to her son, Matt, is rivaled only by her sworn duty to serve and protect the town of Marais. As the community she has dedicated her life to defending is beset by strange forces, she must double down in her efforts to safeguard everyone she holds dear.

Crystal Reed and Maria Sten are also onboard the small screen take on the comic property, which James Wan serves as an EP on.

Beals, though best known for playing the lead in the abovesaid 1982 classic, recently joined the cast of “After”, based on Anna Todd’s bestselling YA novels. Her other credits include “Taken”, “The Last Tycoon”, “Proof” and “The L Word”.

“Swamp Thing” follows CDC researcher Abby Arcane (Reed) as she investigates what seems to be a deadly swamp-born virus in a small town in Louisiana but soon discovers that the swamp holds mystical and terrifying secrets. When unexplainable and chilling horrors emerge from the murky marsh, no one is safe.Mark Verheiden and Gary Dauberman are writing the first episode with “Live Free or Die Hard” helmer Len Wiseman set to direct.
