Suggesting a recent report out of the UK that production on the fifth “Indiana Jones” film has been put on pause for at least three months (!) while star Harrison Ford recovers from a serious injury was false, the 78-year-old’s double has been spotted in Glasgow filming new scenes for the James Mangold-directed sequel.
Ford, reprising the role he originated in 1992’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, still insists on doing his own stunts and badly hurt his shoulder during a rehearsal for a fight scene last month.
According to The Sun, it would be at least September before the production got back back underway.
The report stated that originally, Disney, director James Mangold and producers Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy thought they could shoot around the ‘Indy’ scenes, filming other parts of the film, but with Ford out-of-action for twelve weeks it was decided to shut the production down.
Seems neither scenario was correct – not only did the untitled fifth Indiana Jones film keep filming, but they still seem to be filming scenes with the title character — even if it’s just Ford’s double at the moment.
There’s also a new online report suggesting that the double will also be doing some of Ford’s “standing dialogue sequences”.
INDIANA JONES 5 UPDATE: They’re currently filming the movie in Glasgow with a Harrison Ford body double and they’ll just add Indy later in post-production with editing, greenscreens and CGI. Kind of like Tig Notaro in Army of the Dead. What could possibly go wrong? #IndianaJones5 pic.twitter.com/LWpjRIbGdj

The new film, planned to release in 2022, is said to involve the race to space. Antonio Banderas, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson and Toby Jones also star in the film.

So it looks like Harrison Ford will be recovering for quite some time after his shoulder injury, director, James Mangold, is hiring a look-alike. Rumoured plans are… wait for it… to CGI Ford’s face onto the stand in.
Getting Superman mustache vibes here…😬 #IndianaJones5 pic.twitter.com/MfZo5JmJoa
