Spider-Man actress to play Ronnie Spector

“Spider-Man” heroine Zendaya will play singer Ronnie Spector in a film being put together by A24 and New Regency.

Per Deadline, the untitled series will be based on the life of the Ronettes musician and “Be My Baby”, the memoir she wrote with Vince Waldron. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury is being eyed the script.

Spector herself chose Zendaya, the Emmy-winning star of “Euphoria” and the most recent “Spider-Man” films, to play her in her younger years.

The film will be produced by Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Mark Itkin, Tom Shelly and Zendaya. Jonathan Greenfield and Spector will be the exec producers.
