Statham not so Expendable after all, circles Echelon

Jason Statham is circling “Echelon”, the first in what’s proposed to be a series of films based on the character of SAS Soldier Nick Stone, who originates from a series of Andy McNab novels, according to Deadline.

“Echelon”, which will be based on the novel “Firewall”, was originally reserved for Hulk Eric Bana. Either Bana got busy, lost interest, asked for too much money or thought he was doing a remake of a shit Harrison Ford movie.

Simon Crane, a stunt coordinator on movies like “Salt”, will direct the film, the story of an SAS soldier who finds himself caught between the Russian Mafia and western secret agents trying to get their hands on the Echelon computer program.

With the “Crank” franchise dead and “Expendables 2” pushed back (so Sly can shoot a new movie called “Headshot”) the timing couldn’t be better for swimmer cum actor Statham.
