Turn up Charlie
Netflix has announced that Piper Perabo (”Covert Affairs”, ”Looper”) and JJ Feild (”Turn”, ”The Romanoffs”), as well as newcomer Frankie Hervey, have been cast in the upcoming original comedy series ”Turn Up Charlie”, which went into production earlier this month in London. They join the previously announced Idris Elba, who co-created and executive-produces the series in which he will also star.
”Turn Up Charlie” centers on Charlie (Elba), a struggling DJ and eternal bachelor who is given a final chance at success when he reluctantly becomes a manny to his famous best friend’s problem-child daughter.
Pure
WGN America announced today that Alyson Hannigan (“How I Met Your Mother,” American Pie, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) will be joining the cast as a recurring guest star on the second season of the Mennonite crime drama, “Pure.” She will play “Esther Dunkel,” a lapsed Mennonite who is nobody’s fool and has been helping her lawyer-boyfriend funnel a fortune in cartel cash through a local bank. When the cops start closing in on the ever-resourceful Esther, she has no other option but to engineer her own escape.
Hannigan is slated to begin shooting on July 27, 2018 alongside returning cast members Ryan Robbins (“Arrow,” “The Killing”) as Noah Funk and Alex Paxton-Beesley (“The Strain,” “Cardinal”) as Anna Funk.
Unbelievable
Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever have been cast in upcoming series “Unbelievable”, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning article by The Marshall Project and ProPublica, An Unbelievable Story of Rape. Collette and Wever will play detectives whose lives become intertwined in their mutual pursuit of a possible serial rapist.
Lisa Cholodenko is set to direct the first three episodes.
