Westworld closes… temporarily

Production on one of the year’s most anticipated new series has been halted – but thankfully, we’re not referring to “Twin Peaks” this time.

HBO’s “Westworld”, based on the classic robots-go-bezerk flick from the TAB era, has seemingly been shut down because of escalating money woes. Rumours have circulated for a while that the series, starring Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood and , has received an “insufficient funds” message every time it attempted to use it’s key card at the HBO gift shop. Latest reports, the first surfacing at Variety, confirm as much.

The studio’s official response though?

“As we head into the final phase of production on Westworld, we’ve made the decision to take a brief hiatus in order to get ahead of the writing”.

It’s unlikely the show will be on pause for too long, after all it’s producer is none other than JJ Abrams – a man who I think might have access to just a wee bit money of right now.

“Westworld” was expected to debut last year but is instead due to hit this year.
