Some breaking news stories are overshadowed by tragedy, and unfortunately this is one of them. Zack Snyder, director of the upcoming “Justice League” movie, is stepping away from the production in light of a family tragedy. Snyder tells The Hollywood Reporter that his daughter passed away in March, and with his wife Deborah, is taking a break to focus on healing the family.

Snyder’s daughter Autumn was only 20 when she commit suicide in March, and the death has been kept private until now as Snyder was initially eager to return to the film. Snyder gave an emotional interview to THR, stating that he thought it would be cathartic to return to work, but has come to the realisation in the last two months that the demands of such a job were too much, and that his family ultimately needed him – as they are all (understandably) having a hard time.

Joss Whedon will be stepping up to take over the movie, which is currently in post-production. Whedon will be assisting with shooting additional scenes and guiding the movie through its final production, and is still due for a November 17th release.

Condolences to the Snyder family and all that are affected by this tragedy.
