Three Men and a Reese Witherspoon

Reese Witherspoon – who’ll be one of the darlings of TV next year with her self-produced HBO offering “Big Little Lies” – seems determined to make a movie with Nancy Meyers (“The Parent Trap”, “Something’s Gotta Give”).

The actress was at one stage set to co-star opposite Bobby De Niro in Meyer’s “The Intern”, but that went awry, and Anne Hathaway stepped in. Shame, could’ve been a big one for Witherspoon – who could probably have done with a commercial hit. Alas, seems there is always a next time.

Seems the “Wild” star’s departure from the comedy smash didn’t hurt her relationship with the veteran filmmaker though – it was the elder Meyers who helped get Witherspoon onboard daughter Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s upcoming film “Home Again”. Variety, who have the scoop on the casting, say Meyers got the script into Witherspoon’s hands. Handy momma.

Witherspoon would play a recently separated mother of two whose new life in Los Angeles is overturned when she decides to take in three young, charismatic guys. It’s like “Three Men and a Baby”… without the baby, and with Withersoon playing the Nancy Travis role, ya see?

The project had Rose Byrne in it’s sights at one stage to play the lead. Witherspoon’s name means more though, assumingly.

Production is due to begin in the Fall.
