While it’s only 6 weeks into the maiden season, Riverdale has already been picked up for season 2. Delayed viewing has proven key for the new show, becoming one of CW’s most streamed shows on their digital platforms.
“Riverdale” is a modern day take on the characters from the iconic Archie Comics. The story lines are a lot darker and weirder than the ones appearing in the comic books, seeing Archie and his friends being caught amongst a murder mystery in their small town. All the key characters get their own stories in amongst the key plot line, including Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and of course Archie himself (KJ Apa).
Riverdale is one of eight CW series’ getting early renewals for 2017-18, joining returning shows The Flash (season 4), Arrow (season 6), DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (season 3), Supergirl (season 3), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (season 3) and Jane the Virgin (season 4).
