New intel suggests the long gestating and much-discussed caped crusader project “The Batman”, scripted by and to be directed by the always-dependable Matt Reeves, will be before the cameras in November.
A new report from The Hollywood Reporter states that Reeves has completed the script, the studio are looking to the fall to kick it off, and according to their sources, Ben Affleck – rumored to have been off the project for quite some time – is most certainly not playing Batman. As per previous reports, Warner Bros are said to have been eyeing a younger actor for the role, with Jack O’Connell mentioned as a possibility.
Going by that November shooting date, expect an announcement regarding who the new Batman is by mid-year – with Comic Con, held in July, the most likely place WB will announce.
If filming kicks off years end, don’t expect “The Batman” to release next year – it’ll need more time than that – but possibly 2021 or 2022.
