Silver Surfer movie is all yours, McKay!

“Vice” director Adam McKay recently mentioned – but not in any great detail, so who knows how serious his interest even is – that he’d be interested in bringing Marvel’s Silver Surfer back to the big screen.

The filmmaker, who had been approached to direct the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” a while back, would be relaunching the film career of an otherworldly grey chap who last appeared in the dog-shit “Fantastic Four : Rise of the Silver Surfer” in 2007.

While Marvel Studios hasn’t regained the rights to utilize the character from Fox just yet, Kevin Feige seems to be hot on the idea of McKay helming such a movie when they do.

Adam McKay

The big man tells MTV, “I’ve not gotten a call yet, but I’ve seen Adam tonight and at a number of these awards, he is as everyone knows an incredibly smart guy he’s an honest to goodness fan and you know did a lot of behind the scenes work on the first Ant-Man film and have you seen Vice? A little cameo, a little Galatcus cameo in there that we helped him get. So I look forward to speaking to him more.”

While “Vice” has done OK business for McKay, especially on the awards front (Christian Bale won best actor for his role as Dick Cheney in the film at the Golden Globes this week), his other recent release “Holmes & Watson” stunk like a tire-hugging cottontail so there’s a good chance McKay might actually be very serious about all this – after all, a Marvel superhero film is the guaranteed hit he needs right now.

I’m just excited to hear how Christian Bale responds to being asked if he’d like to strip off, be painted silver, and popped on a surfboard to play the title character.

So apparently Jimmy Fallon’s onboard Mean Girls 2
