Sequel Updates : MI:7, MI:8, Ghostbusters 3, Deadpool 3 & more!

Christopher McQuarrie with Tom Cruise and Henry Cavill on the set of "Mission : Impossible - Fallout"

Despite how they might exited frame in “Mission : Impossible – Protocol”, Henry Cavill and Alec Baldwin are reportedly returning to shoot flashback scenes for the upcoming “Mission : Impossible” 6 & 7, which Christopher McQuarrie will write and direct for a Summer 2021 and Summer 2022 release, respectively. Most seem happy with last week’s news that a third in the original series of “Ghostbusters” is [finally] on the way – but actress Leslie Jones, who co-starred as one of the titular troupe in the 2016 reboot, is not one of those gleeful fans. Speaking on Twitter, the actress said the project is “So insulting. Like f–k us. We didn’t count. It’s like something Trump would do. (Trump voice): ‘Gonna redo ghostbusteeeeers, better with men, will be huge. Those women ain’t ghostbusteeeeers’. Ugh, so annoying. Such a dick move. And I don’t give f–k I’m saying something.”  She would go on to tweet the same tweet three times.

A third “Deadpool” movie is in the works, but don’t expect it to before the superhero team-up “X-Force”.  According to Variety, star Ryan Reynolds mentioned that the movie is inching along while promoting “Once Upon a Deadpool in China” : “His team was already at work on ‘Deadpool 3,’ [Reynolds] added… He did say, however, that in the third installment, they were ‘looking to go in a completely different direction,’ saying that ‘often, they reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.'”

With the amount of money it’s made, no surprise that Deadline‘s reporting that a “Bumblebee” sequel may be in the works : “There’s a sequel in development (might that mean a Bumblebee/Optimus Prime buddy movie?). Before that, there’s an animated movie in the works and future iterations of the overall Transformers series that may introduce new characters and bring others along.”

Hugh Jackman hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a sequel to “The Greatest Showman”, telling “If a genuine opportunity came up where it felt like the right thing to do, then yep, I’d get the top hat back out.” [Heart]
