Hall on Coming to America 2 : No makeup needed to play the Barbers now

COMING TO AMERICA, Arsenio Hall, Eddie Murphy, 1988

Appearing on Sportsfan today to promote his upcoming stand-up gig at the Raleigh Improv, former TV talkshow great Arsenio Hall confirmed he’ll be joining Eddie Murphy for the recently-announced “Coming to America” sequel, which he believes will be before the cameras this summer.

“We’re ready to hit in the Summer”, says Hall, who will reprise his role as Semmi in the long-awaited sequel to the 1988 hit.

The new script, written by “Blackish” creator Kenya Barris, is “really, really good”.

“He – gotta have a sports reference right? – knocked it out of the park.

Hall jokes that because of he and Eddie Murphy’s age, the make-up and effects budget won’t need to be as high on the new film.

“You know we could do the barbers without makeup now?”.

Craig Brewer will direct the new film, which will also bring back many of the other faces from the John Landis-directed original, including John Amos and James Earl Jones.
