Breaking : Mark Hamill voicing Chucky in Child’s Play

Hot out of the halls of WonderCon, Mark Hamill will voice Chucky in Orion’s remake of “Child’s Play”.

The announcement comes just three months before the release of the Lars Klevberg directed horror film.

Earlier reports suggested “Twin Peaks” actor David Dastmalchian was laying down the voice for the character of the demonic doll. Interestingly enough, Hamill is Dastmalchian’s father-in-law, so there’s unarguably a good story here (that will likely come out after the movie, courtesy the ever-so-open Hamill).

The “Star Wars Episode IX” actor joins Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman and Brian Tyree Henry in David Katzenberg produced film.

“We feel incredibly lucky to have an icon creating a new take on an iconic character,” said Katzenberg. “Mark is a gifted actor and celebrated vocal performer, and he’s approached this challenge with incredible energy and commitment.”

The film, due in theaters June 21, fixes on single mom Karen (Plaza), gifting her her son Andy (Bateman) a toy doll, unaware that it possesses the soul of a serial killer.

Tyler Burton Smith penned the film, which will share no connection to the rival ‘Chucky’ film series, in which Brad Dourif voices the character.
