Wolverine, Fantastic Four reboot cast rumors

A couple of superhero rumors that seem to be gathering steam with every passing minute.

With Hugh Jackman hanging up the claws in last year’s “Logan”, superhero boffins have been ga-ga for any squeeze of juice pertaining to a possible Wolverine replacement. While an “X-Men” reboot is likely years off – Marvel’s Kevin Feige has said so himself – it’s understandable that discussions as to what that reboot will look and feel like, and who it might potentially feature, have been discussed, if even not at great lengths.

According to We Got This Covered, “Rocketman” star Taron Egerton is being considered as a possible Logan 2.0 when the “X-Men” rework their way into the multiplex. Funnily enough, he’s not their first pick for the role – that honor belongs to Jackman, who the studio hopes to lure back.

Our source tells us that Taron Egerton is being eyed by Marvel Studios to play their version of Wolverine. Interestingly, Marvel’s apparently keeping their fingers crossed that Jackman can be tempted back, but failing that, they have plans to recast the role and go much younger this time. And one of those on their wishlist is the 29-year-old Kingsman star. To clarify though, there are a handful of other actors Marvel’s thinking of right now as well, so he’s not necessarily the favorite.

Egerton, who held his own in the action-packed “Kingsman” films, was also recently rumored for the title role in the long-gestating “Green Lantern” movie at Warners. Seems he’s a popular fellow with the ideas rooms.

Meanwhile, Marvel are still hellbent on coaxing Dwayne Johnson into their lofty cinematic universe.

While the studio are said to have discussed the soon-to-be-announced “Sub Mariner” movie with the former wrestling superstar, they’ve also apparently got him on their radar for another big-time tentpole.

According to various sites, including Cosmic Book News, Johnson is the studio’s pick to play Ben Grimm aka ‘The Thing’ in a “Fantastic Four” reboot.

Like the “X-Men”, Feige swears that one is still many, many years away, so it’s way too early to consider it a done deal, but gotta say, that’s a damn fun choice. Perfect, if I don’t say so much.

Guess it’ll come down to a choice for Johnson : Sub-Mariner or The Thing? Water or Space? Fish or Foursomes?
