The CW says the seventh season of post-apocalyptic drama “The 100” will be it’s last.

Mark Pedowitz, President of the network, made the announcement during the TCA summer press tour. According to the big man, the creators of the popular series wanted to cap the series at the seventh season – it’s all their decision.

Series creator Jason Rothenberg said on Twitter Sunday that next year’s batch of eps will be it.

“With #The 100 Season 6 finale just days away, I have some bittersweet news to share: Season 7 will be our last,” Rothenberg tweeted. “We are eternally grateful to WB & CW for always allowing us to tell our story the way we want to & to wrap the show on our terms. What an incredible ride this has been!”

The final season will consist of 16 episodes.

The Season 6 finale of “The 100” airs Tuesday, August 6, on The CW.
