D23 : Despite divorce, Holland remains onboard Spider-Man 3

It’s been a crazy, understandably upsetting week for fans of the Spider-verse- in particular, the many who’ve welcomed seeing the web-slinger become part of the MCU over the course of the past five years or so. And unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Disney and Sony are going to kiss and make up anytime soon – with current Spider-Man Tom Holland alluding to a definite split.

Though Holland essentially confirmed that we won’t be seeing Peter Parker on screen with any fellow Avengers anytime soon, he tells EW he is going to continue playing the Marvel hero as long as Sony want him.

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” he says, referring to the movies Marvel and Sony collaborated on together. “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds?”

“But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life,” Holland continues. “It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

During his appearance at Disney’s “Onward” (See below) panel today, Holland took a minute to address the situation – and his words hit hard.

Holland said, “It’s been a crazy week, and I love you all from the bottom of my heart, and I love you 3000.”
“Onward”, which opens in U.S. theaters on March 6, 2020, stars Tom Holland and Chris Pratt as two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left in the world. Set in a modern fantasy world, Disney and Pixar’s “Onward” is inspired by Scanlon’s personal experiences with his brother. Holland, Pratt and Julia Louis-Dreyfus—who voices Mom in the movie—joined the filmmakers on stage—much to the delight of the audience, who all received an exclusive “Onward” poster.
