Halloween Kills adds Anthony Michael Hall as fan favorite!

Franchise fave Tommy Doyle will be back amongst the carved pumpkins and shadow streets in the next “Halloween” – and now, we’ll get to see just how well he’s aged.

The character, introduced as a pint-sized tyke (Brian Andrews) assigned to Jamie Lee Curtis’s babysitting Laurie Strode in the original 1978 film, returns in Blumhouse’s “Halloween Kills” – with ‘Farmer Ted’ himself, Anthony Michael Hall (“Sixteen Candles”, “The Breakfast Club”) playing the role.

Fans of John Carpenter’s long-running slasher series will recall that Doyle returned for – now cult fave – “Halloween : The Curse of Michael Myers” in 1995, with then-newcomer Paul Rudd as Doyle. In that flick, Doyle teamed with Dr. Loomis – Donald Pleasence in his last go-round as the character before his death – to take down Haddonfield’s most wanted.

Hall, who in recent years caught the comeback train with thanks to the small-screen adaptation of “The Dead Zone” (as well as parts in such films as “The Dark Knight” and “War Machine”) is both a curious and interesting choice for the older Doyle. While he apparently was asked to come back (that’s the rumor anyway), it doesn’t much matter that Rudd isn’t reprising the role, as “Curse” – and every film after Carpenter’s original – are part of a different “Halloween” universe thanks to the reijgged storyline set up in last year’s reboot.

As Variety – who have the aforesaid casting scoo – reminds me, Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green will shoot two “Halloween” installments back-to-back. “Halloween Kills” is scheduled to debut on Oct. 16, 2020, while “Halloween Ends” is expected to open the following year on Oct. 15.

Jamie Lee Curtis, who reprised Laurie Strode for the 2018 re-do, is back for the next two instalments – presumably, fighting Michael alongside Tommy Doyle.

And just in case you’re wondering what original ‘Tommy’, Brian Andrews looks like now, here he is..
