Coupla’ Petes joining Suicide Squad

As if the ever-growing cast of James Gunn’s “Suicide Squad” reboot – call it a ‘continuation or ‘sequel’ as much as you like, it’s pretty clear this is a do-over – wasn’t tasty enough, looks like a former Doctor Who and one of the most talented of the current SNL bunch are now on the payroll.

While details of his role is being kept under wraps, sci-fi fave Peter Capaldi (“Doctor Who”) looks to be hopping aboard the Warner Bros project. Also likely in play for a role, albeit a much smaller one, is “Saturday Night Live” fave Pete Davidson, who is reportedly set to shoot scenes between breaks on the NBC sketch series.

A table read for the James Gunn-directed flick, starring Margot Robbie, Idris Elba and Nathan Fillion, among others, is set for September 11 with production starting 12 days later at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta for an August 6, 2021, release.

The current crop of players looks like this : returning from the 2016 film are Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag) with new recruits Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian (Polka-Dot Man), Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher), Flula Borg, Steve Agee (King Shark), Nathan Fillion and Taika Waititi.
