Trailer : The Irishman DeAges DeNiro

The full-length trailer for Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” has been released.

The ‘event’, hitting select theaters before it streams on Netflix (not sure if that’s the same deal worldwide), combines the dynamo power of one of today’s most exciting filmmakers with a powerhouse ensemble headed by Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and Joel Pesci.

The long-gestating flick, which tells a story over many years (so it’s basically “The Godfather” trilogy –  but in one sitting), is described as “an epic saga of organized crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century. Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history, the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa, and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organized crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics.”

A lot of chatter online about the de-aging process used to shed a few years off the cast members, notably DeNiro, with some criticizing the end result but personally, I think it looks a friggin’ treat.

The impressive support cast includes Ray Romano (yup!), Harvey Keitel, and Anna Paquin.

The 209-minute treat hits theaters November 1 and on Netflix November 27.
