Hobbs & Shaw director tapped for Kung Fu movie

Stuntman turned frequently-employed filmmaker David Leitch (“Hobbs & Shaw”, “Deadpool 2”) will direct a feature film based on the classic TV series “Kung Fu”.

Best known as the vehicle that introduced David Carradine to the world, “Kung-Fu” has been high on Hollywood’s to-do list to update for years. Universal seemingly cracked a reboot idea with Leitch, who is fresh off the studio’s hugely profitable “Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw” (2019).

Leitch, also producing, will unite with the studio to find a writer.

A separate “Kung Fu” reboot, this one a TV series featuring a female lead, was set up last year with The CW.
