Obi-Wan Kenobi series enlists new writer

The Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney Plus series is on the move, with Joby Harold signed on to write the upcoming series. He takes the reigns from Hossein Amini, who left the project back in January.

Harold has not yet written for a TV series, but his most recent credits include Executive Producer for “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum” as well as on WGN America drama series “Underground” and the recent Netflix series “Spinning Out.” He’s also written for Zach Snyder’s film “Army of the Dead” and was one of two writers, alongside James Vanderbilt, who was selected to develop a new take on the “Transformers” franchise for Paramount.

The start of production for the Obi Wan Kenobi series is set to begin in January 2021, after being delayed as a result of Amini leaving the project. This seems appropriate though, given that the current state of the world could’ve inevitably delayed the production regardless.

Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as Kenobi in the series, and Deborah Chow is on board to direct.
