Hawke, Derrickson reunite for Black Phone

Ethan Hawke and Scott Derickson will reunite for another effort over at Blumhouse.

The “Sinister” duo are teaming on an adaptation of the Joe Hill short story “The Black Phone”.

To be distributed by Universal, the film will tell of a kidnapped kid who finds himself in a soundproof basement surrounded by the remains of other victims. When night falls, the antique — and disconnected — telephone in the room begins to ring with the calls from the dead.

Jeremy Davis will play the boy’s father, Mason Themes is the boy, and Madeleine McGraw is his sister.

“Doctor Strange” scribe Robert Cargill is also responsible for the script.
