Kenan directing Ghostbusters Afterlife 2, Cube has Friday 4 update

“It’s an absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the camera”

Gil Kenan (Monster House) will direct the Ghostbusters : Afterlife sequel, which Sony had previously skedded for a December 2023 release. Afterlife director Jason Reitman will produce the film.

“It’s an absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the camera for the next chapter of the Spengler family saga,” said Kenan. “I just wish I could go back to 1984 and tell the kid in the sixth row of the Mann Valley West that one day he was going to get to direct a Ghostbusters film.”

The cast of the 2021 film, including Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon, are expected to reprise their roles for the sequel.

Ice Cube said he wants Warner Bros to give him -he’s not paying, he said, because he owns the property as far as he’s concerned – the rights to the Friday movie series so he can make the long proposed fourth film in the comedy series.

“I don’t know. Warner Brothers is weird right now”, the actor and producer told Mike Tyson’s Podcast. I don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t know what they’re doing,” he said. “We’d love to have it back. I think it’s going to be close to a time when we get it back. So, we’ll either wait for that time, or we’ll keep trying to convince them that they need to let us control the movie. It’s my movie, but they have distribution control.”
