Yesterday, a THR article rocked the film industry that suggested new DC brass James Gunn and Peter Safran were going to essentially dump a lot of actors currently playing DC superheroes on the big screen, and further, projects they’re involved – be it Wonder Woman or Superman.
Gunn has responded to the report, confirming that some of it is true but not all.
“Some of it is true, some of it half-true, some of it is not true, and some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not”, the Peacemaker head-honcho said on Twitter. “Peter & I chose to helm DC Studios knowing we were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told & in the audience itself & there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming. But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities & the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far & to help rectify what has not.”
In addition, Deadline reports that it was actually Patty Jenkins who walked from Wonder Woman 3, not Gunn and Safran giving her the axe, following script notes.
Another project that may or may be off is a Batman Beyond live-action project, which Michael Keaton was said to be attached to headlined.
