Out promoting his new film You People (Netflix), Eddie Murphy touched on the chances of a Shrek 5 (c’mon! we know it’s coming! Puss in Boots : The Last Wish essentially built a teaser into it’s end scene for it!) and whether he’d be up for lending his voice to Donkey again for it.
Speaking with E-Talk CTV, the Beverly Hills Cop actor said :
“Oh, I’d absolutely be open. If they ever came with another Shrek, I’d do it in two seconds. I love Donkey. I wish they would…they did the Puss in Boots movies, I was like ‘They should’ve done a Donkey movie, Donkey is funnier than Puss in Boots!’ I mean, I love Puss in Boots, but he aint funny as a Donkey!”
It was recently rumoured that Murphy and co-stars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Antonio Banderas would be back for a fifth film in the long-running animated series, following the success of the Puss in Boots sequel.
Meanwhile, Murphy recently completed filming on Beverly Hills Cop : Axel F, directed by Mark Molloy, which will air in 2025 (yup, it’s still a year away… sigh). He previously reprised his Prince Akeem for a Coming to America (1988) sequel, which aired on Amazon last year.
