Michael Jackson’s nephew to play music icon in biopic

Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late icon, will play music sensation Michael Jackson in director Antoine Fuqua(Training Day)’s new biopic.

Housed at Lionsgate, Michael hails from writer John Logan (Gladiator) and producer Graham King, who worked Freddie Mercury’s story into the hit film Bohemian Rhapsody. GK Films will produce alongside the co-executors of Jackson’s estate, John Branca and John McClain.

Jackson, son of Jermaine Jackson, has been singing and performing since the age of 12 so he’s clearly equipped to play his late uncle.

Fuqua is currently filming The Equalizer 3 in Italy, and plans to shoot Michael shortly after.
