Parker Finn, director of last year’s horror smash Smile, has signed a multiyear, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures.
One of the films on his slate could very well be a Smile sequel, which the studio is keen on. The other films they’re keen for him to make are, of course, horror fare too – he’d write, produce and direct each.
“Smile’s breakthrough success is a testament to Parker’s unique and fresh filmmaking, and we are thrilled that he will make Paramount his home,” said Paramount president and CEO Brian Robbins in a statement (via THR).
“Parker knows how to keep people on the edge of their seat and we’re happy that we get to keep scaring audiences together,” said Paramount’s motion picture group co-presidents Michael Ireland and Daria Cercek.
Smile, initially made for streaming service Paramount+ but changed to a theatrical release after a very positive test screening, made over $216 million worldwide.
