Paddington threequel coming, Harry Potter being remade

A couple of family faves are returning to our screens

Dougal Wilson will direct a second sequel to family fave Paddington.

Paddington In Peru has been greenlit at Studio Canal with the film lensing from July 24th. The film’s story hails from Paul King, Simon Farnaby and Mark Burton, along with a screenplay by Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont.

Speaking to Deadline on his replacement in the director’s chair, Paddington and Paddington 2 director Paul King said : “After ten years of working on the Paddington movies, I feel absurdly protective of the little bear, and I’m delighted that Dougal will be there to hold his paw as he embarks on his third big-screen adventure. Dougal’s work is never less than astounding: funny, beautiful, heartfelt, imaginative, and totally original. Aunt Lucy once asked us to ‘Please Look After This Bear.’ I know Dougal will do so admirably.”

Meantime, Warner Bros and HBO have announced a new series based on J.K Rowling’s best-selling Harry Potter books. It’s expected the cast of the films will be replaced with younger actors, with each season of the series said to be covering one book at a time in the series.

Bloomberg says Warner Discovery’s David Zaslav is expected to announce the series next week, which Rowling will produce and oversee but not be the showrunner of.
