Adam Scott accepts invitation to Will Ferrell’s Bachelorette party

I had a feeling that when Adam Scott, an old friend and long-time reader of this here site, hooked up with Will Ferrell and John C.Reilly for “Step Brothers” (he played Reilly’s obnioxious, ass-kissing brother) that his vehicle wouldn’t need an oil n’ grease for a while. No maintenance needed on that carrier for a while, let me tell you. Look, Adam’s always been a fab actor – from as far back as “High Crimes” it was clear Adam was carrying quite a bit more than a SAG card – but it was “Step Brothers”, and a couple of other comedies released around the same time (not to mention the fun TV cable series “Party Down”), that the now 38-year-old really made his mark. No more sitting quietly and undisturbed in cafes with Clint Morris anymore, champ – not know that the secrets out (that you’re a talented sonofoagun). But good thing, when you’ve little mouths to feed, right!?
Ferrell, like a crunched webmaster, has ostensibly become somewhat of a champion for all things Adam Scott; he’s just retained the services of his “Step Brothers” co-star for a new ‘Bachorelette’ (that’s the current title; it’ll likely be changed) comedy. Adam will play a lead role in the indie laffer, produced by Ferrell and “Step Brothers” helmer Adam McKay, alongside Kirsten Dunst, Lizzy Caplan (whom Scott co-starred with on Starz’ “Party Down”) and Casey Wilson.

Says The Hollywood Reporter :

The story follows three best friends (two of whom would be played by Caplan and Dunst) who are invited to act as bridesmaids at the wedding of a girl they called “Pigface” in high school. The producers are still in the process of casting the third best friend.

Caplan’s character is described as having a Playboy Bunny body with a Larry David brain. Dunst’s character appearance is described as crisp and severe, and she is referred to as your best friend and your worst enemy.

Wilson, one of the stars of ABC’s Happy Endings, is playing the bride, who has big plans for three women. Scott, who starred with Caplan on the dearly departed comedy Party Down, will play Caplan’s high school crush, who shows up at the wedding with a beautiful and much younger date.

The project, with a budget only in the $3 million range, is in the process of lining up its financing. Depending on scheduling, producers are hoping to shoot this summer in New York.

The film is reportedly based on a play.
