Two Bourne movies being developed at the same time!

It was announced this week that Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass were – much to everyone’s surprise, considering the duo had said time and time again that they’d moved on – working on a new “Bourne” film. The same reports suggested that the Justin Lin-directed Jeremy Renner-led “Bourne Legacy” sequel would therefore be delayed in favor of the Jason Bourne number.

Not so, says producer Frank Marshall.

Marshall tells The Hollywood Reporter that both films are being developed simultaneously, suggesting any of them could go first.

We’re on two tracks. And if this one [with Damon and Greengrass] comes together, great, but they’re still just talking… [Bourne Legacy 2] movie is moving forward. It’s still in development. We’re working to get a script as soon as possible.

The trade says the “talk” of Damon and Greengrass doing a fourth “Bourne” together might just be a ploy to get Fox to greenlight “The Ballad of Richard Jewell”, which Greengrass and Leonardo DiCaprio have been trying to push for a greenlight on.
