The Hit film “From Dusk Till Dawn” (1996) originally directed by Quentin Tarantino and written by Robert Rodriguez is now in its second season on Rodriguez’s cable television network El Rey and was developed by the famed filmmaker also.  The television show revisits the original film and expands on the storyline while the second season takes place in the world of “what if the film had ended differently?” The television series features Eiza Gonzalez (Santanico Pandemonium), Zane Holtz (Richie Gecko), D.J. Controna (Seth Gecko), Jesse Garcia (Freddie Gonzalez), Madison Davenport (Kate Fuller), and Brandon Soo Hoo (Scott Fuller) carries a film-like feeling in every episode as well as surprising storylines. The fun vampire show actually tackles some serious subject matter as well. Danny Trejo (The Regulator) Wilmer Valderrama (Carlos), Demi Lovato (Maia), and Esai Morales (Lord Amancio) are also featured actors on the show.

At New York Comic Con 2015 I had the opportunity to sit at a round table with Rodriguez and some of the cast members. With me, as a guest for this podcast, was Michael Focas. I also opted to keep in some of the questions and answers from other reporters, not with Moviehole, as well – although I’m not aware of their names or outlets so I cannot properly credit them. On the podcast with the cast they talk mythology of the show, breaking racial barriers, whether or not Seth can live in a world without Kate, and playing the stakes in their roles. In the podcast with Rodriguez we discuss allowing public submissions for El Rey content, filming Lovato’s new music video in two days and breaking away from/continuing the storyline of the film into season two.
