Classic Alien characters return for Alien : Covenant

With the “Prometheus” sequel gearing up for a shoot in Sydney soon, director Ridley Scott will no doubt be working with the effects chaps on putting together some of the film’s foes. Among them? most of the non-human cast of “Aliens”.

Seems the Aliens we’ve seen in the previous films – specifically the ones designed by the maestro H.R Giger – will be making a reappearance in “Alien : Covenant”.

“We’ll have them all”, Scott tells The Wrap. “Egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy. They’re going to go to the planet where the engineers came from, and come across the evolving creature that they had made. Why did they make it? Why would they make such a terrifying beast? It felt bio-mechanoid, it felt like a weapon. And so the movie will explain that, and reintroduce the alien back into it.”

The movie, starring Michael Fassbender (and Noomi Rapace, though in a smaller role than she had in the film’s predecessor), sees the colony ship Covenant investigating the home world of the Engineers.

Anyone upset that “Covenant” is sounding less and less like a sequel to “Prometheus” and more and more like a sequel to “Alien”?

“Alien : Covenant” is skedded for an October 6, 2017 release.
