Casting: Johansson, Cruz, Harding, Grillo, Pacific Rim: Maelstrom

Scarlett Johansson is set to star in Imperative Entertainment’s psychological thriller “Tangerine”, based on Christine Mangan’s debut novel.

Imperative’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas will produce with Smokehouse Pictures’ George Clooney and Grant Heslov.

Set against the political climate of 1950s Morocco, the story centres on two women whose lives intersect on multiple occasions, leading to the death or disappearance of one woman’s significant other.

 

 

Penelope Cruz will join Kenneth Branagh, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Lucy Boynton, Tom Bateman, Derek Jacobi, Michael Peņa, Josh Gad and Leslie Odom Jr. in 20th Century Fox’s “Murder on the Orient Express”.

Branagh is directing the film based on Agatha Christie’s acclaimed mystery about  a murder onboard the famous train.

Production will kick off this month in London.

 

 

“Pretty Little Liars” star Ian Harding has joined Jane Levy and Brenton Thwaites in zombie pic “Office Uprising”, from director Steven C. Miller.

Ian Shorr and Peter Gamble penned the script which is set “inside one of the world’s leading arms manufacturers where a substance is slipped into the employees’ drinks by the board of directors to supposedly make them work more efficiently. Due to a slacker within the company, though, they are fed the wrong formula and start turning into homicidal maniacs — leaving the slacker needing to step up his game to rescue himself and his friends from the growing zombie plague inside the company compound” (via Variety).

Harding will play Dr. Frohm. He is Levy’s boyfriend and works with Thwaites in research and development at the company.

 

 

Frank Grillo will star in a feature adaptation of “The Last Don Standing”, a book about Philadelphia Mob Boss Ralph Natale, reports Deadline.

Natale is known as one of the only La Costra Nostra bosses to flip and become a federal witness.

The book was written by New York Daily News reporter Larry McShane and producer Dan Pearson.

 

 

“Spartacus” star Nick Tarabay has been added to the cast of “Pacific Rim” sequel “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom” reports Variety.

John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Jing Tian star in the film from director Steven S. DeKnight.

“Pacific Rim: Maelstrom” will be released on February 23, 2018, and is currently filming in Australia.
