Long Kiss Goodnight’s Geena Davis returns to action terrain

Geena Davis in "The Long Kiss Goodnight" (1997)

Geena Davis, an action fanboy favorite for her role in Renny Harlin’s “The Long Kiss Goodnight” (of which a sequel has been rumoured for years), has signed on to co-star in the action film “Eve” starring Jessica Chastain.

“Eve” marks Davis’s first action-skewed release since the aforementioned film, released in 1996.

The character-driven genre piece, from Voltage Pictures and Chastain’s banner Freckle Films, centers on a cold-blooded assassin (Chastain) who is being hunted by her former employers, while also trying to tell her family the truth about the nature of her job.

It’s believed Davis, whose recent credits include a stint on “Grey’s Anatomy” and Fox series “The Exorcist”, will play Chastain’s mother.

Joan Chen, best known for her role as Josie Packard on “Twin Peaks”, has also been cast. She’s tipped to be playing a gangster that runs an underground gambling racket.

Other names onboard the Tate Taylor-directed film include Colin Farrell, Common and John Malkovich.
