Saw 8 gets official title

The eighth film in the “Saw” franchise has been called “Saw: Legacy” for a while now, but with no confirmation that it was to be its final title. Lionsgate have now officially announced the flick is to be called “Jigsaw”.

Fans of the franchise know Jigsaw as Tobin Bell’s character, and it was the original title for the first film before James Wan and Leigh Wannell settled on “Saw”.

Eric Feig, co-president of Lionsgate, revealed the title and a trailer at CineEurope, so no doubt we will get a first glance at what’s to come in “Jigsaw” soon. Not much is known about the plot thus far, except for the following brief synopsis:

One of the highest grossing Horror franchises of all time is back, taking the Jigsaw killer’s signature brand of twisted scenarios to the next level.

Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger wrote the eighth film; and it’s been co-directed by Michael and Peter Spierig. The cast includes Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Matt Passmore, Hannah Emily Anderson, Josiah Black, Shaquan Lewis, Michael Bolsvert, and James Gomez.

“Jigsaw” will be released October 27, just in time for Halloween scares.
