Disney evaluating Gambit movie

With Disney now housing Fox, the likelihood of all the “X-Men” projects the latter were developing getting up is, lets to be honest, slim to none.

While we know for sure that there will still be “X-Men” movies, what we don’t know is whether any of them will be the projects set up at Fox before the merger.

One project that Fox were all hot for, at least for the first couple of years of it’s development period, was the Channing Tatum-starring “Gambit”.

Simon Kinberg, who has his finger in most of the “X-Men” pies (or did… we’ll see what Disney has planned for him), told Variety on the red carpet of TV’s “The Twilight Zone” this week that he’s hopeful Disney pushes forward with the film.

“All of the movies at Fox are being evaluated. I love the idea of Channing playing Gambit. I think we have a great script for it and I think it’s a role he was born to play. It’s a character I grew up loving and I know the fans love. So I suspect, I hope it will happen. There will be a lot of mixing and merging now and I’m all for it and excited to see.”

In other words, his guess is as good as yours.

Kinberg is the director of the upcoming “X-Men : Dark Phoenix”, which opens later this year.
