First look at Daisy Ridley as Ophelia

I know what you’re wondering and the answer is yes, Daisy Ridley still looks stunning in the 14th century. Ridley stars as the title character in “Ophelia”, a reimagining of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”.

Ophelia was Hamlet’s forbidden love, and the film tells the story of her tragic romance with the prince. Ophelia is also the Queen’s trusted lady-in-waiting, who is being played by Naomi Watts. Prince Hamlet will be played by George MacKay, while other cast includes Clive Owen (Hamlet’s uncle Claudius), Tom Felton (Ophelia’s younger brother Laertes) and Devon Terrell (Hamlet’s friend Horatio).

The flick is directed by Claire McCarthy and the story was adapted by Semi Chellas from a book of the same name by Lisa Klein. The retelling of the Shakespearean story is to be told in contemporary voice, and is currently filming. Ridley will next be seen in a number of projects, including “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Murder on the Orient Express”.

Thanks to THR for the story.
