Is Luke Skywalker The Last Jedi!? Lucasfilm announces Episode 8 title!

Mark Hamill in "The Last Jedi"

Disney has officially unveiled the title of the new “Star Wars” film.

“The Last Jedi”.

A chap on Reddit guessed the name of the movie last year. And he suggested, the name “Jedi” can be plural – so the film mightn’t necessarily be referring to Luke or Rey, but a whole bingo club full of rebel jedis.

The lettering for the title is written in red. What does that mean? Well, the other two titles that were written in red – “Return of the Sith” and “Revenge of the Sith” featured the deaths of Skywalkers. Here’s hoping “The Last Jedi” isn’t hinting at a possible Luke demise (heck, we need one original player, right!?).

“The Last Jedi” is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

The film is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.
