The Punisher takes on The Predator!

Thomas Jane (“The Punisher”, “The Mist”) has joined the increasingly-curious cast of Shane Black’s “Predator” reboot.

The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the casting news, have no details on Jane’s character, but considering his past roles – predominantly Frank Castle – it’s likely the former “Hung” star plays a macho, gun-toting member of the main troops assigned to take out the dreadlocked alien.

The Fox tentpole marks the first studio film in quite some time for Jane, who has mostly been working in television and in small direct-to-disc movies in recent times.

Other members of the very interesting cast of Black’s relaunch include Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key and Trevante Rhodes. Though originally rumoured to be reprising his role from the 1987 original, no concrete word on whether Arnold Schwarzenegger appearance is definitely on the cards.

The film, which begins shooting in February in Vancouver, apparently takes place in a more “domestic setting” than the jungle terrain of the original.

“The Predator” was written by Black and “Monster Squad” scribe Frank Dekker.
