A. Word from Metropolis (geddit?) is that Jean Claude Van Damme started those “Rush Hour 3” rumours himself. He didn’t actually have the good sense to contact someone at New Line and tell them he was seriously interested in a role though – I mean, that would be a step in kickstarting his dying career, and he doesn’t wanna do that. No way. There are too many more shitty direct-to-video movies waiting in the wings. The only Vibe I get from “Live Free or Die Hard” is that it’s ‘entertaining generic action movie #13’ retooled to fit the ‘Die Hard’ mould.

A. I can tell you what it isn’t : ‘Penelope Pitstop’. They’ve been trying to get Reese to do it for years, and for a while there she was as good as attached to the project, but an insider told me this week that Witherspoon has officially nixed the idea of playing the cartoon sweetie – so they’re in search of a new muffin to play the pink one. She’ll next appear in a film she’s producing called “Penelope” (funnily enough), before starring in a remake of Otto Preminger’s 1965 psychological thriller “Bunny Lake is Missing”.
