SeaChange reboot begins filming; full cast announced

Kerry Armstrong and Kevin Harrington will reprise their roles from the ABC’s beloved “SeaChange” in the recently announced reboot, Channel Nine confirmed today.

In a statement celebrating the start of production on the reboot – it kicks off its shoot in NSW, today-  the network announced that a number of original cast members, as well as new faces, will be part of Pearl Bay when the series returns to the air sometime later this year.

In addition to “SeaChange” staples Sigrid Thornton, John Howard, Kerry Armstrong and Kevin Harrington, a number of notable Australian actors join the cast.  Brooke Satchwell, Dan Wyllie, Darren McMullen, Katrina Milosevic, Ella Newton, Kate Lister and Alex Tarrant are among the new additions.

“SeaChange : Paradise Reclaimed” will see Thornton’s Laura Gibson return to Pearl Bay to deal with matters on both a personal (she is estranged from daughter Miranda, played by Cassandra Magath, who is about to give birth to her first child) and professional nature (there’s some shonky stuff going on in town, for one). Laura and Max’s grown-up daughter factors into the story, as does town staple Bob Jelly (John Howard).

Harrington is back as caravan park owner Kevin, while Armstrong is Jelly’s wife Heather.

It’s believed that Gibson is divorcing Max, played by William McInnes, when the show returns and at this stage the actor is not set to return.

ITV, moving into scripted TV, unite with Every Cloud Productions on the highly-anticipated series.

Deb Cox and Andrew Knight are executive producing with Fiona Eager, David Mott, Lois Randall and Thornton. Wayne Blair, director of the Oz comedy “Top End Wedding”, is helming.

In a previous statement, Thornton said she was “absolutely thrilled to be returning to Pearl Bay. Time has passed and the world has changed, so as we revisit this rich and strange place I trust we’ll all delight in the chance to explore how far we’ve come and how far we still have to go. I can hardly wait.”

While the original series shot in Barwon Heads, VIC, the eight-episode sequel series films in Brunswick Heads, NSW.
