“Magic Mike XXL” has welcomed “Groundhog Day’s” Andie MacDowell and said farewell to Matthew McConaughey.
Variety reports the casting of MacDowell in the film while Indiewire was first to report the news that McConaughey will not return for the sequel of 2012’s stripper hit “Magic Mike”.
Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Jada Pinkett Smitth is in talks to join the cast of the film as the owner of a strip club.
Greg Jacobs is helming “Magic Mike XXL”. Channing Tatum will return to star in the film along with Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello.
The film will follows the group of male exotic dancers to a stripper’s convention. Mike (Tatum) takes newbie The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and teaches him about partying, picking up women, and making easy money.
The film will hit cinemas on July 1, 2015.
