We’ve lost Brian Dennehy; revisiting his finest moments on screen

I’ve been on a real Brian Dennehy-bender lately – coincidentally just feeling a need to revisit everything from “Cocoon” to the “F/X” movies (check out the story on that here), “Presumed Innocent”, “Best Seller” and just last week, “Tommy Boy” – in which the gentle giant played pop to Chris Farley’s loveable ditz, Tommy.

Gutted, obviously, to read that we lost Dennehy today.

As equally well-known for his work in Stallone classic “First Blood”, as he is for the aforesaid films, the 81-year-old actor died on Wednesday night of natural causes in New Haven, Connecticut, according to Kate Cafaro of ICM Partners, the actor’s representatives.

During his career, the screen and stage staple won two Tony Awards, a Golden Globe, a Laurence Olivier Award and was nominated for six Emmys. In recent times, he had appeared on TV’s “The Blacklist” with James Spader.
