Mandalorian director for Star Wars movie!

After he yelps ‘that’s a wrap!’ on Marvel’s “Thor : Love & Thunder”, Disney may retain the services of Taika Waititi for another pricey fantasy offering with superb brand recognition.

The hot commodity, fresh off awards contender “Jojo Rabbit”, has reportedly been approached to develop a new “Star Wars” movie for Lucasfilm and the Mouse factory.

No surprise to hear a yak between Lucasfilm brass and Waititi took place, considering the filmmaker has been a big part of the small-screen “Star Wars” sensation “The Mandalorian” – as both a director (of several eps) and actor.

It’s unknown if this is the same “Star Wars” project being developed by Kevin Feige.

As for when Waititi could fit the film in? his dance card is full this year with “Thor” commitments, and he’s supposedly set to direct the long-gestating “Akira” film for Warners sometime after that, so any project would undoubtedly be a couple of years away at least.

The person I want to hear being in talks to do a “Star Wars” movie? Jon Favreau. Via “The Mandalorian”, which he created, the “Iron Man” helmer has given us what’s unquestionably the best thing brandishing the “Star Wars” name in several years.
