Robertson, Scott up for Tomorrowland lead

A number of up-and-coming young thespians are battling it out to play the female lead in director Brad Bird’s big-budget adventure tentpole “Tomorrowland”, described as a futuristic take on Spielberg’s “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.

The Hollywood Reporter says Brit Robertson and Naomi Scott are the current favourites with Disney, Bird and co-star George Clooney.

The duo will undergo makeup and full hair tests before the studio makes their decision.

The role is that of “Casey Newton, a rebellious teenage girl who comes to Clooney’s character, a disgruntled inventor, for help on a quest. Observers say the part has potential to be star-making.”
Aside from Clooney, the film will also star former “House” star Hugh Laurie and newcomer Raffey Cassidy.
