“The Newsroom’s” John Gallagher Jr will star in “The Cellar” opposite Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Goodman.
Variety broke the news of Gallagher’s casting in the project to be directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by J.J. Abrams.
The film centres on a young woman who wakes up in an underground cellar after a car crash, suspecting she’s been abducted. Her captor is a doomsday prepper who tells her that there has been a terrible chemical attack and that he saved her from the outside world which is now uninhabitable. As tensions rise, she decides she must escape regardless of the terrors that await outside.
Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken wrote the original script. The most recent version was penned by Dan Casey.
