The Kurt Russell comeback continues!

’80s icon Kurt Russell, currently on screens in “Fast & Furious 7” (and believed to be reprising that role for the imminent “Furious 8”), is in talks to join Mark Wahlberg in Peter Berg’s “Deepwater Horizon”.

The film, based at Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment, tells of the 2010 oil-rig explosion in the Gulf that left the crew stranded in the water for three months.

It’s been a big year for Russell, who is also in the forthcoming “Bone Tomahawk” and who is currently shooting Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight”.

In addition to Russell, “Maze Runner” star Dylan O’Brien has been offered the role of crewman Caleb Holloway, one of the young survivors left scarred by the incident.

Written by Matthew Michael Carnhan, the film is due for a September 2016 release.
